The Estate
Markus Molitor is a German wine estate in the Mosel that bears the name of its founder. Markus Molitor took over his father's outstanding estate in 1984 at the age of 20. He represents the eighth generation of his family in winemaking. It is he who gave the estate its name, thereby affirming his ambition to restore Mosel Riesling to its former glory.
The Vineyard
The Markus Molitor vineyard extends over the steep slopes of the Mosel. The soils consist mainly of slate, which imparts a characteristic minerality to the wines.
The Wine
The Riesling Vogelsang Kabinett Domane Serrig comes from a plot in the village of Serrig, facing south-east with slate-rich soil. Domane Serrig was once a vineyard of the Prussian State.
Winemaking and Ageing
Manual harvest, followed by gentle pressing and short maceration.
