The Aromatic Richness and Freshness of an Atypical White Wine from the Languedoc
The Estate
Founded in 1971 by Véronique and Aimé Guibert, Mas de Daumas Gassac has established itself as a pioneer in the production of age-worthy wines in the Languedoc. Nestled in the heart of the upper Gassac valley, this family estate has built its reputation on a philosophy deeply respectful of nature and its environment. Today, the second generation, represented by the founders' sons (Samuel, Gaël, Amélien, Roman and Basile), oversees the estate's collective management, thus perpetuating the legacy and unique identity of this vineyard.
The Vineyard
The vineyard extends over around fifty hectares, divided into small clearings in the midst of a vast, protected garrigue forest. The vines, with an average age of 34 years, thrive on very well-draining glacial gravel soils. This singular terroir benefits from a cool, ventilated microclimate, regulated by the presence of underground cold-water springs, which helps maintain low yields of around 25 hl/ha and preserve the balance of the berries.
The Vintage
The 2020 vintage stood out for a harmonious and mild season, without climatic extremes. These ideal conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness while retaining a lovely acid tension. The harvest was carried out by hand over a short period, between the end of August and the first days of September.
Vinification and Ageing
The winemaking relies on specific methods, beginning with cold skin maceration (10°C) for five to seven days to extract the aromas. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks for approximately three weeks, at controlled temperatures. To preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir, no oak ageing is used. Finally, the wine undergoes double filtration before bottling.

28% Viognier, 23% Petit Manseng, 22% Chardonnay, 12% Chenin, 17% Marsanne, Roussanne, Petit Courbu, Muscat Petit Grain, Muscat of Alexandria, Gros Manseng, Semillon and Fiano.
