Description
The unique expression of a great red wine from Languedoc
The estate
An emblematic figure of the viticultural renewal of the Terrasses du Larzac, Olivier Jullien is recognized as one of the most talented winemakers in Languedoc. At the age of 20, he acquired his first plot and founded in 1985, alongside Jean-Philippe Granier, the Mas Jullien. Today at the head of about twenty hectares, the estate produces its cuvées on the Côteaux du Languedoc and Terrasses du Larzac appellations. Precision, demand and sense of terroir define the wines of Mas Jullien, considered as true references of the region.
The vineyard
In Occitan, "Trescol" means "the neck that crosses": an evocative name for this IGP Aveyron wine from a unique terroir. The Trescol comes from vines averaging 35 years old, grown organically at 400 meters altitude on a sloping plot located mid-slope. Benefiting from a west exposure, the vineyard enjoys generous sunshine, moderate humidity thanks to the proximity of a river and a microclimate with strong thermal amplitudes between day and night. These conditions provide an ideal environment for a slow and balanced maturation of the grapes.
Blend
The Trescol 2021 from Mas Jullien is the result of a blend of gamay, syrah and cabernet sauvignon.
