Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 from Domaine Méo-Camuzet

    Tasting

    Nose
The bouquet reveals great finesse, with intense red fruit aromas accompanied by subtle spicy notes. This aromatic expression reflects impressive depth and remarkable complexity.

    Palate
On the palate, this grand cru shows a refined, almost lace-like texture with a particularly seductive, enveloping character. The structure displays great finesse without austerity, evoking the elegance of an accomplished gentleman. The finish is remarkably long, confirming the nobility of this cuvée.

    Food and wine pairings

This Clos de Vougeot pairs perfectly with duck, goose and game birds. It also accompanies noble red meats and mature cheeses with great brilliance.

    Serving and cellaring

The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 Domaine Méo-Camuzet is ideally served between 16 and 18°C. This grand cru is distinctive in being approachable in its youth while also having a surprising ageing potential, and it can be enjoyed until around 2040.

A Burgundy grand cru combining the finesse and complexity of Domaine Méo-Camuzet

    The estate

In Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Méo-Camuzet takes its name from Étienne Camuzet, who acquired vines in the Clos de Vougeot in 1920. In 1959, Jean Méo took over the running of the estate and continued its story. The first vintage under the Méo-Camuzet label was produced in 1983. Today, the estate cultivates prestigious climats of the Côte de Nuits, including Richebourg, Échézeaux and Cros Parantoux. Its Pinot Noirs are elegant and profound, and express all the finesse of the Burgundian terroir.

    The vineyard

The Clos de Vougeot enjoys a privileged position at the top of the appellation, at the foot of the château. This single, continuous parcel of nearly 3 hectares has well-balanced but shallow soils, with only 40 centimetres of topsoil resting on a subsoil of stones and weathered rock. The vines, one third of which were planted in 1920, one third in the 1960s and the remainder between 1970 and 1980, develop the deep root system necessary for the expression of this exceptional terroir.

    The vintage

The 2022 vintage in Burgundy was marked by particular climatic conditions that encouraged early ripening of the grapes, resulting in a pure aromatic expression and fine natural concentration.

    Winemaking and ageing

The vinification of the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022 favours a more extensive extraction than average, notably through punching down (pigeage), in order to gain length. The ageing benefits particularly from new Tronçais oak, allowing the wine to find its balance quickly. A slightly extended ageing period reveals the full depth of this exceptional cuvée.
