Moon Harbour, Bordeaux’s first whisky distillery

Founded in 2014 by Jean-Philippe Ballanger and Yves Médina, Moon Harbour remains Bordeaux’s first whisky distillery, officially launched in September 2017. Housed in a historic World War II bunker in the Bassins à Flot, it benefits from exceptional aging conditions. The distillery stands out for its 100% local approach: Gironde barley, Bordeaux-made Stupfler stills, grands crus classés casks. Moon Harbour has created remarkable innovations, notably Dock 3, the first single malt smoked with seaweed from the Bassin d’Arcachon, and the world’s first whisky made from 100% malted corn. Owned by Jean-Philippe Ballanger and Yves Médina, it embodies the excellence of Bordeaux terroir applied to the art of distillation.

Dock 1 Château Carbonnieux Finish, the union of whisky and grands crus

The Dock 1 Single Malt Château Carbonnieux Finish is the first single malt 100% made in Bordeaux. It is the result of a gentle, slow distillation from Bordeaux malted barley. This 5-year-old French whisky was aged for 4 and a half years in Bordeaux red wine casks before undergoing a 6-month finishing period in barrels from the prestigious Château Carbonnieux, grand cru classé of the AOC Pessac-Léognan. This double maturation gives the spirit enhanced structure and an oak-driven profile, delivering a whisky full of intensity and flavor. The spicy notes and elegantly tannic nuances come from this aging in fine-wine casks, adding length and complexity to the whole. Dock 1 is presented in a gift box, in a 70 cl bottle.
