    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Le Porusot" Domaine 2023 Olivier Leflaive

    Tasting

    Colour
A brilliant pale gold hue, with a lovely viscosity.

    Nose
Complex and well-balanced, it reveals a lovely harmony between aromas of dried fruits, hazelnut, and a pronounced minerality, without any dominant oak.

    Palate
Full-bodied and generous, the palate opens with notes of ripe stone fruit supported by a mineral backbone. The structure is straight and precise, offering a long, well-balanced finish thanks to a lovely acidity.

    Food and Wine Pairing

The estate suggests pairing this wine with poached lobster and baby vegetables, cauliflower cream with caviar, or an Époisses cheese. More generally, it will pair beautifully with white fish in butter sauce or poultry in creamy sauce.

    Service and Storage

This wine should be served between 12 and 14°C in large Burgundy-style glasses, with no need for decanting. This Meursault 1er Cru "Le Porusot" Domaine 2023 can be cellared for optimal tasting between 2028 and 2032, and will continue to evolve until around 2035.

The Authentic Expression of a Great Burgundy Terroir by Olivier Leflaive

    The Estate

Founded in 1984, the Olivier Leflaive house has established itself as an unmissable reference in Burgundy. This visionary producer developed a haute couture négociant model, combining the rigour of an estate with a meticulous selection of grapes. The vineyard covers 100 hectares, including 26 hectares under direct ownership, farmed according to the principles of environmental certification. Today, technical direction and winemaking are overseen by Solène Panigai, who continues the house's elegant and precise style.

    The Vineyard

This wine comes from the Meursault appellation, from the renowned climat classified as premier cru. The vines, planted in 1990, thrive between 250 and 300 metres in altitude on southeast-facing slopes. The terroir stands out for its very stony and porous soils, composed of limestone and a red clay subsoil crossed by deep faults. All the plots are certified for their high environmental value and are harvested entirely by hand.

    The Vintage

The year 2023 will be remembered as one of the hottest on record in the region. The growing season was marked by very high temperatures and a significant water deficit, causing stress to the vines. Despite disease pressure from mildew and uneven ripeness across the plots, generous harvest volumes allowed for extremely rigorous sorting during the late harvest.

    Winemaking and Aging

As soon as they arrive at the winery, the grapes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Le Porusot" Domaine 2023 undergo gentle pneumatic pressing. After twenty-four hours of static settling, alcoholic fermentation in whole clusters and malolactic fermentation take place in oak barrels. Aging continues for eighteen months, exclusively in barrels, 25% of which are new, in order to add complexity while preserving the identity of the terroir.
