    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Olivier Leflaive Meursault Village 2025

    Tasting

    Appearance
The wine shows a pale yellow to straw-yellow hue with golden highlights and, in its youth, occasionally subtle green nuances.

    Nose
Beautifully intense, the bouquet opens with notes of nuts such as almond and hazelnut, mingled with aromas of apple and citrus. Delicate touches of white flowers intertwine with a fine oak influence evoking vanilla and toasted bread.

    Palate
The palate offers a remarkable balance between a creamy, ample and generous texture and a lovely tension. Crisp acidity brings great freshness, guiding the tasting towards a long, lingering finish marked by chalky minerality.

    Food and Wine Pairings

This white wine pairs wonderfully with noble fish such as cod with beurre blanc, roast poultry with crispy skin, or a creamy mushroom risotto. It also goes perfectly with soft-rind Burgundian cheeses such as Soumaintrain or Cîteaux.

The Balance and Richness of a Great White Burgundy

    The Estate

Founded in 1984 by Olivier Leflaive, the eponymous négociant house is an essential reference in Burgundy. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, it stands out for its quality-driven approach to “haute couture négoce”. Today, Olivier Leflaive still runs the estate, supported by his brother Patrick, his daughter Julie and Jean Soubeyrand. The house farms the equivalent of around one hundred hectares of vines, twenty-six of which it owns. A pioneer of wine tourism, the house skilfully combines family tradition, technical rigour and a sense of sharing.

    The Vineyard

The Meursault appellation, recognised in 1937, is the largest white wine-producing village in the Côte de Beaune. The vines thrive on varied terroirs, ranging from deep clay-limestone soils at the foot of the slope to more marl-limestone soils on the higher ground. The house favours sustainable viticulture, partly inspired by biodynamics. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand in order to preserve the integrity of the grapes.

    Vinification and Ageing

The Meursault Village 2025 is made from a meticulous blend of fifteen to twenty complementary parcels. After whole-cluster pressing and one day of static settling, alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in oak barrels. The wine then benefits from a long maturation of around eighteen months, including six months in stainless steel tanks, with a moderate proportion of new oak to preserve the purity of the fruit.

    Grape Variety
