    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Montagny 1er Cru "Creux de Beauchamps" 2024 Olivier Leflaive

    Tasting notes

    Colour
Clear and bright, the colour reveals a delicate pale gold hue.

    Nose
Wonderfully refined, the aromatic bouquet opens with notes of white flowers such as acacia and honeysuckle, mingled with touches of peach and green almond. A subtle chalky minerality, punctuated by hints of violet, rounds out the whole.

    Palate
The palate offers a delicate texture underpinned by a crisp minerality and perfectly integrated acidity. The balance is harmonious, leading to a persistent, refreshing finish.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs perfectly with a pike terrine, a crayfish gratin or frog legs with parsley. It also goes wonderfully well with oysters, delicate white fish such as turbot, grilled poultry and young goat cheeses.

    Service and storage

For optimal enjoyment, the Montagny 1er Cru "Creux de Beauchamps" 2024 should be served at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. This wine can be enjoyed from 2025 and will continue to evolve favourably until around 2031.

The freshness and brilliance of a Premier Cru from the Côte Chalonnaise

    The estate

The history of the Leflaive family is rooted in Burgundy, France, in Puligny-Montrachet, since the early eighteenth century. It was in 1984 that the haute-couture négociant house Olivier Leflaive was founded, distinguishing itself through complete mastery of winemaking and an innovative approach to wine tourism. Today, the estate is led by Brice de la Morandière, representing the new generation. Certified High Environmental Value, the estate carries on an ancestral savoir-faire while firmly committing to sustainable viticulture, offering a precise and authentic reading of Burgundy's finest terroirs.

    The vineyard

Located to the south of the Côte Chalonnaise, the Montagny vineyard flourishes on hillsides facing east and southeast. The vines, averaging around fifty years of age, are planted between 290 and 370 metres in altitude on clay-limestone and marl soils. Managed according to the principles of sustainable farming, these plots benefit from natural drainage that favours a pure expression of the terroir.

    The vintage

2024 was marked by particularly challenging climatic conditions, with high temperatures, record rainfall and high humidity. These weather challenges led to significant fungal pressure throughout the growing cycle. Nevertheless, the well-drained terroirs proved resilient, allowing healthy grapes to be harvested quickly during a picking period carried out with great responsiveness.

    Winemaking and aging

After an entirely hand-picked harvest, the grapes intended for the Montagny 1er Cru "Creux de Beauchamps" 2024 are gently pressed using pneumatic presses. The must then undergoes a one-day static settling. Aging takes place over a total of twelve months, beginning with a four-month bulk blending period, followed by eight months of maturation shared between oak barrels, large oak casks and inert vats.
