Description
The freshness and intensity of a full-bodied yet crisp Condrieu white wine
The estate
A leading name among the great crus of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Paul Jaboulet-Aîné House was founded in 1834 in Tain L'Hermitage. Since 2006, this prestigious house has been owned by the Frey family, under the leadership of Caroline Frey, a renowned oenologist and winemaker. The Paul Jaboulet-Aîné House cultivates a 125-hectare winegrowing estate spread across some of the region’s finest appellations: Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.
The vineyard
Les Cassines by Paul Jaboulet-Aîné come from the Condrieu appellation, located in the northern part of the Rhône Valley. This white wine comes from vines aged between 20 and 30 years, grown on steep terroirs characterized by granitic soils.
The wine
The name of this cuvée from the Rhône Valley pays tribute to the fishermen’s homes that once lined the banks of the Rhône.
Winemaking and aging
Production begins with hand-harvesting the grapes, followed by whole-cluster pressing. Fermentation is carried out at low temperature in various vessels: barrels, stainless-steel tanks and a concrete egg. Aging then continues on lees for eight months.
Grape variety
Les Cassines 2021 by Paul Jaboulet-Aîné is 100% Viognier.
