    Description

The vibrant freshness of a great dry white from Château Margaux

    The Estate
Heir to a history dating back to the 12th century, Château Margaux embodies the nobility and excellence of the great wines of Bordeaux. Elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it was the only one to receive the maximum score of twenty out of twenty. In 1977, the arrival of André Mentzelopoulos marked a decisive turning point: he restored the Grand Vin to its full splendor, relaunched the Second Vin Pavillon Rouge, and injected new momentum into the estate. His daughter Corinne took up the torch after his passing and continues to perpetuate the château's aura as an emblem of neo-Palladian style and Bordeaux refinement. Year after year, its wines ascend to the top of global references.

    The Wine
From the Bordeaux blancs secs appellation, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux succeeds a white wine made exclusively from sauvignon blanc cultivated on the estate since the 18th century.
This cuvée comes from an 11-hectare terroir comprising the oldest plots of the domaine.

    The Vintage

The 2024 vintage began under exceptionally abundant rainfall, with over 1000 mm falling between October and March, a record. Mild winter temperatures accelerated the vine cycle, causing budburst as early as late March. Persistent humidity imposed high pressure from downy mildew, complicating access to the plots and requiring constant vigilance. Flowering, slightly delayed, took place in early June, followed by an extended véraison in August in a humid climate reminiscent of the 2014 and 2016 vintages. While the deep, cool soils suffered, the draining gravel soils held up better. Despite these challenges, the teams maintained high standards, with rigorous sorting and moderate yields (30 hL/ha), preserving the balance between concentration and finesse. Sourced from well-drained terroirs less sensitive to excess moisture and more resistant to heavy rains and downy mildew attacks, this cuvée accounts for 28 % of the harvest this year.
