    Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" 2024 by Pierre Girardin

    Tasting

    Appearance
The typical robe of these great white wines reveals itself in a pale yellow hue, enhanced by delicate golden highlights that reflect a perfectly mastered ageing process.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with citrus notes such as lemon and grapefruit, mingled with white flower scents like acacia and hawthorn. Subtle hints of pear and green apple intertwine with nuances of fresh butter, almond and hazelnut, all underpinned by a mineral imprint reminiscent of chalk or gunflint.

    Palate
On the palate, the attack is lively and slender. The mid-palate reveals a texture that is both dense and elegant. The whole is carried by a beautifully integrated acidity and an assertive minerality, offering a persistent, savoury and slightly saline finish.

    Food and wine pairings

This great white wine pairs wonderfully with noble seafood such as langoustines, lobster or pan-seared scallops. It also makes an ideal companion for white fish topped with a light lemon or cream sauce, as well as refined poultry such as guinea fowl or Bresse chicken with mushrooms. Finally, it elevates cooked pressed cheeses such as a young Comté or a Gruyère.

The Pure and Mineral Expression of a Great Puligny-Montrachet Terroir

    The estate

Heir to a long line of winegrowers, Pierre-Vincent Girardin officially founded the Pierre Girardin estate in 2013. Located in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, this property embodies the renewal of the region. The winegrower now oversees a vineyard of approximately 12.7 hectares, spread between the Côte de Beaune and the Jura. Equipped with an ultra-modern winery, the house stands out for its high-end micro-négoce approach and its strong specialisation in white wines. Praised by international critics, the estate is recognised for its constant pursuit of purity, precision and respect for terroirs.

    The vineyard

The "La Garenne" climat is a prestigious terroir located on the upper part of the slope of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. The vines thrive on lean, well-drained soils composed of limestone and scree. This high-altitude position and the low-vigour nature of these lands favour moderate yields, giving rise to wines renowned for their great verticality, freshness and mineral tension.

    Grape variety

    Chardonnay (100%).
