Ramos Pinto : Quinta do Bom Retiro Vintage 2018

Presents a dark and winey mix of black currant, blackberry and fig preserve flavors that meld steadily through the finish along with notes of roasted alder, licorice root and warm earth. On the old school side of the spectrum. Best from 2030 through 2045. 380 cases imported.

Cask sample. Mid to dark purplish crimson. Relatively evolved on the nose. Very sweet and round – positively polished! – on the front palate. With just some very fine tannins on the finish. Not massive in terms of build and not massively ambitious, but this should give pleasure. (JR)
