    Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Cras" 2023 by Remoissenet Père et Fils

    Tasting

    Colour
This white wine reveals a magnificent golden hue, bright and clear.

    Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with intense scents of green apple, citrus fruits and Williams pear. The whole is delicately underscored by subtle brioche notes.

    Palate
From the very first sip, the palate reveals a lovely vivacity with citrus accents, evolving towards flavours of yellow fruits. Full-bodied and displaying beautiful complexity, the palate is built on vibrant acidity and pure minerality, a reflection of its stony terroir, before stretching into a persistent, aromatic finish.

    Food and wine pairing

This white wine will pair wonderfully with seafood such as grilled fish, sushi, freshwater fish in cream sauce or a seafood terrine. It will also enhance white meats such as grilled chicken, roast veal with morels, truffle pasta, as well as a selection of soft cheeses.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Cras" 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. This wine boasts fine ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2033.

    The estate

Founded in 1877 by Pierre-Alfred Remoissenet, the house of Remoissenet Père et Fils is ideally located in Beaune, at the heart of Burgundy. Housed in historic buildings connected to the medieval fortifications, it has distinguished itself for over a century as a prestigious négociant, building up one of the largest collections of old vintages in the world. Since 2005, the estate has been led by a group of investors with Edward Millstein as majority shareholder, alongside Maison Louis Jadot. Combining purchases of exceptionally high-quality grapes with biodynamic farming on its own land, the estate stands as a benchmark for wine lovers.

    The vineyard

This Meursault comes from the "Les Cras" climat, whose name refers to chalk and highlights the very stony nature of the ground. The surrounding plots are located on the upper, steep part of the slope, at an altitude of around 237 metres, not far from the border with Volnay. The vines, aged between 20 and 40 years, benefit from a beautiful south-east exposure and thrive on almost exclusively limestone soils in Burgundy.

    Winemaking and ageing

After hand-picked harvesting, the whole bunches are gently pressed. Fermentation takes place through the action of indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels of 228 and 342 litres, with a proportion of 40 to 60% new wood.

    Grape variety

This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay (100%).
