The aromatic bouquet opens with intense notes of red and black fruits, dominated by blackberry and blueberry. It then develops spicy touches of cinnamon and pepper, accompanied by delicate scents of faded roses and subtly integrated oak.
Palate
The palate reveals a refined structure with velvety, perfectly balanced tannins. A lovely minerality intertwines with light vanilla notes, leading to a long, finely tuned finish carried by a preserved freshness.
Food and wine pairing
This red wine pairs wonderfully with hearty meats such as lamb navarin, game stews like venison or wild boar, or a rib steak with Roquefort sauce. It will also enhance roasted poultry served with elaborate garnishes.
Service and storage
For optimal enjoyment, it is recommended to decant this wine before serving, at a temperature between 16 and 18°C. It can be enjoyed now, but has an aging potential extending to around 2044.
The elegance and complexity of a red wine from Languedoc
The estate
Officially founded in 1999, the Roc d'Anglade estate is located in the historic village of Langlade, at the heart of Languedoc. Led by Rémy and Martine Pédreno, joined in 2022 by Jeremy Stevenson, the estate has established itself through its distinctive approach to winegrowing. It stands out for its commitment to producing wines focused on freshness and elegance, relying on practices that respect living ecosystems. Today, Roc d'Anglade is recognized for the consistency and quality of its production, faithfully reflecting the identity of its terroir.
The vineyard
Located within the IGP Pays du Gard, the vineyard extends over plots facing north, a rare feature in the region that helps preserve the natural acidity of the grapes. The vines, around 25 years old, grow on soils composed of calcareous marl resting on siliceous clay. The estate has been certified organic since 2011, favoring rigorous manual work to promote biodiversity and the mineral expression of the terroir.
The blend
This cuvée is the result of a meticulous blend of several harvest years, spanning from 2015 to 2021. This method allows the structure and patina of older vintages to combine with the energy of more recent ones, creating a timeless and harmonious expression.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking favors minimal intervention. Fermentation takes place in open vats with indigenous yeasts, preserving a very large majority of whole clusters. Extraction is gentle, with no punching down or pumping over. Aging takes place in large oak vessels (foudres and demi-muids) for varying durations depending on the year, ranging from a few months to more than four years. The final blend then undergoes an additional year of aging in bottle, without prior fining or filtration.
Grape varieties
Carignan (50%), Mourvèdre (25%), Grenache (25%), complemented by small proportions of Syrah and Cinsault.
