    Description

A full and generous Brunello di Montalcino red wine

    The estate

San Felice is an estate in Tuscany, Italy. With its constantly evolving skillset, this estate has succeeded for decades in highlighting its terroir through the character of its Tuscan wines.

    The vineyard

Campogiovanni 2018 is a Brunello di Montalcino wine from a 65 hectare vineyard. Located on the south-eastern slopes of Montalcino, these cordon-pruned vines are grown on sandy loam soils alternating with clay and resting on limestone marl.

    The vintage

Despite the rainfall, the particularly mild conditions in Tuscany during the winter advanced a 10-day early flowering. The summer period saw temperatures above the seasonal average, counterbalanced by rainy spells which avoided any risk of water stress and preserved the gradual ripening of the grapes.

    Winemaking and ageing

Following a 20-day maceration, the must underwent malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged for 36 months in oak barrels from the Slavonian forest. After bottling, the wine was aged for a further 12 months before release on the market.
