A Brunello di Montalcino from Scopone combining elegance and tradition

    The property

Nestled between Montalcino and the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, Scopone flourishes on an exceptional 12-hectare terroir in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its exposure to Mount Amiata, the richness of its galestro and alberese soils, as well as its ideal climate, create perfect conditions for excellent viticulture.

    The vintage

The mild winter favored early bud break. The wet spring with repeated rains until April gave way to a dry summer. The rains of the last week of August allowed for perfect phenolic maturity. The harvest took place from mid-September to early October.

    Vinification and aging

For the Brunello di Montalcino 2020, the grapes are hand-picked with a first selection in the vineyard, followed by destemming and a second selection on the sorting table. Fermentation takes place for about 10 days in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature (max 28°C), followed by a 15-day maceration on skins. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for at least 24 months in French oak barrels of 25 hl and Slavonian of 65 hl. Bottling takes place in the third year in a climate-controlled cellar.
