Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for Ceretto's Brunate 2022
Tasting
Nose
This wine reveals a bold and alluring aromatic bouquet. It exudes superb floral scents dominated by rose, both fresh and pot-pourri, intertwined with aromas of red and black cherry. Notes of liquorice and spice enrich the whole, along with refreshing balsamic and citrus touches.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is full, fleshy and remarkably enveloping. It is sapid and perfectly structured by an incisive acidity that brings lovely tension. This energy carries the wine through to a long, persistent finish, marked by pleasant echoes of fruit and balsamic notes.
Food and wine pairings
This great red wine pairs wonderfully with flavourful dishes such as fresh tagliatelle with truffle, beef fillet with a morel sauce or a fine herb-crusted rib-eye steak. It will also enhance white meats, poultry, charcuterie and mature hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
With its solid structure, this vintage has excellent ageing potential. It will evolve gracefully in the cellar and can be enjoyed until around 2032, developing more complex, smoky and autumnal nuances over time.
The elegance of a great Italian cru from Barolo by Ceretto
The estate
Founded in the 1930s by Riccardo Ceretto in Alba, in the heart of Piedmont, this illustrious family house played a pioneering role in showcasing the local terroirs. Now run by Alessandro Ceretto, the estate covers several dozen hectares, including more than 30 hectares around Tenuta Monsordo Bernardina. Committed to organic and sustainable viticulture, this prestigious house stands out for its unique approach, which combines respect for the land with contemporary architecture and art, embodying excellence in the Langhe.
The vineyard
The Brunate cru is a historic terroir located on the border between the communes of La Morra and Barolo. This prestigious vineyard of around 5.30 hectares enjoys an excellent south-facing exposure. The plots lie mainly close to the famous colourful chapel decorated by contemporary artists Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are vinified at the Bricco Rocche Winery, a cellar located in Castiglione Falletto and dedicated specifically to the house's great crus. Historically, the estate has favoured ageing in oak barrels to refine the tannins of its wines, in keeping with the stylistic modernisation initiated in the 1980s.
