Deutz : Amour de Deutz 2011

A vibrant Champagne, with a fine mousse and a well-meshed range of ripe yellow plum, cherry blossom, candied lemon peel and ginger flavors enriched by notes of grilled nut and smoke. Creamy finish. Drink now through 2026. 4,000 cases made, 38 cases imported.

Substantial and savoury – almost like sparkling white Burgundy. Solid wine. Quite impressive actually with a beginning, middle and end. (JR)

The 2011 Brut Amour de Deutz is a gorgeous Champagne, especially for the year. Lemon confit, tangerine oil, brioche and tropical accents give the 2011 its extroverted personality. I would prefer to drink the 2011 sooner rather than later, just in case the vegetal notes typical of the year emerge, but today it is quite expressive. All the elements are nicely balanced in this rather slender vintage Champagne.

A delicate, open nose full of charm, with aromas of flowers and white fruit; a sparkling, generous mousse balanced on the palate by lovely freshness, and a finish brimming with indulgent appeal.

A mature Champagne from a great vintage year, this is concentrated. With toast over the white fruits and with minerality still very present, the wine is taut, textured, vibrant and ready to drink.
