Description
Tasting notes and characteristics of Château Beychevelle 2025
Tasting
Appearance
The wine displays a deep, dark colour with an opaque core, enhanced by almost black highlights.
Nose
The bouquet reveals an alluring aromatic profile, mainly dominated by notes of ripe black fruits, elegantly intertwined with hints of black cherry, wild blackberry, as well as spices and rose.
Palate
This wine offers a generous, fruit-driven attack. The mid-palate reveals a fine tannic structure combined with a silky texture, supported by a fresh finish and woody nuances characteristic of its youth.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs ideally with grilled or roasted red meats, such as beef and lamb. It also wonderfully accompanies full-flavoured poultry such as duck, mushroom or truffle dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this vintage, serving at around 16 to 17 °C is recommended, along with moderate decanting in its youth. It has excellent cellaring potential of at least ten years, with the ability to evolve favourably over several decades.
The elegance of a great Saint-Julien by Château Beychevelle
The estate
Built in 1565, Château Beychevelle is an iconic estate of Bordeaux, located in the Médoc. The property covers 250 hectares, including 90 hectares of vines. Today, the estate belongs to Grands Millésimes de France, owned in equal shares by the Castel and Suntory groups. Operational management is led by Philippe Blanc, while Aymar de Baillenx chairs the structure. Famous for its legend of the "Lower the Sails" and its ship emblem, this Fourth Growth from the 1855 Classification stands out for its classical architecture and sumptuous gardens.
The vineyard
Located at the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, the vineyard flourishes on particularly well-drained Garonne gravel mounds. The proximity of the Gironde estuary offers a temperate microclimate that protects the vines from temperature extremes. The estate is committed to responsible and sustainable viticulture, paying close attention to every plot in order to preserve biodiversity and express the full richness of this exceptional terroir.
Winemaking and aging
The crafting of this vintage is part of the estate's tradition of excellence. The wine is aged in oak barrels, a method that allows the woody notes to harmoniously integrate with the fruit, while refining the tannic structure to ensure a beautiful balance. Alcohol: 13.5% vol.
Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
