Château de Fieuzal 2022

Sliced green apples, pears, green mangoes, cedar and nutmeg on the nose of this crisp and focused white. It’s layered, complex and spicy, with medium body and wonderful phenolic tension. Drink or hold.

Flowers, white peaches, lemon rind, and orange notes leap from the nose. The palate is creamy yet fresh, perfect for its white peach, lemon curd, and tropical profile. This will be great in your glass on release. The wine blends 55% Sauvignon and 45% Semillon. Drink from 2025-2032.

Pale straw yellow colour, silver reflections. Notes of ripe pineapple, a hint of lime and meadow herbs, with floral nuances in the background. Juicy, soft, somewhat fluid texture, fine fruit sweetness, fine lemony hints on the finish, already developed and versatile. (1/2025, PM).

The 2022 Château De Fieuzal Blanc is a stunning, racy white, offering layers of bright citrus, lychee, white flowers, and crushed stone, with a touch of minty herbs. Medium-bodied, vibrant, and focused, it has bright acidity and a crystalline sense of purity. This showed beautifully both times I was able to taste it. Give bottles a year or two and drink through 2034.

65% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Sémillon, 26 hl/ha. A delicate bouquet of subtle vineyard peach, lemon balm and white flowers. The dynamic palate, with lively freshness, is all about finesse paired with a refined mineral core. The focused finish stands out for its purity, citrus notes and elegant chalky character.

A gentle, subtle nose carried by aromas of chestnut honey and exotic fruits (mango and papaya), with a deeper note of lemongrass. The palate is simply exquisite! A sensation of freshness as if diving into a pool of strawberries, with a bracing salinity.

Aromas of white flowers and peaches, nicely framed by reduction, which is a sign of youth. Saline on the attack, the wine shows tension as well as a creamy touch. An expressive, sapid wine that stands out for its freshness and persistence.

The nose is elegant, rich and suave, with a lovely grain. It reveals notes of fleshy apple, fleshy/pulpy vineyard peach, and, more lightly, peach blossom, with fine touches of verbena and a discreet, almost buttery, almost acacia hint. The palate is nicely guided, supple, juicy and gourmand, with a tart framework, precision, and a lovely finesse within its roundness, showing both tension and suppleness. It expresses notes of juicy/pulpy vineyard peach, vibrant nectarine, and, more lightly, pulpy apple, combined with touches that are almost pine-needle-like, a subtle, almost oceanic edge, buttery. Good length.

Pale, bright color. A superb, vibrant, fruity nose with a delicate pear note. Supple on entry, very aromatic through the mid-palate; the wine melts on the palate, subtle and tasty, leading to a deep finish. It’s superb! Don’t hesitate to drink it young.

A very refined, fresh nose with hints of lichen and river algae. Elegance and delicacy define the bouquet, with notes of fruit and white flowers (acacia). The palate opens rich and complete. Citrus notes carry a coherent mouthfeel, perfectly balanced between acidity, minerality, and breadth. A highly successful vintage, a delightful, pleasure-giving wine!

I find lots of sweet dessert apple, orange zest and oaky wrapping on the nose of the 2022 from d Fieuzal, with some sandy-gravelly notes on the side. The palate feels a little loose and broad at the start, with soft acid backbone, leading to a very soft, ripe, rather oak-washed and wandering finish. This one seems to reflect the warm and dry conditions of the season quite plainly.

Bright and alive on the palate. A lovely shot of creamy bright lemon and peach with pear tones. Some honeydew melon too, round and forward. Not too high toned but gently creamy and enjoyable.
