Château Doisy-Daëne 2024

A nose with depth and complexity, smoky notes over ripe citrus, exotic fruits, almond blossoms; on the palate, breed and freshness, dancingly light, full of tension and energy, every element in its place, excellent length. No longer an insider tip, but certainly worth every franc.

Cloudy yellow-gold colour in appearance. The nose is bursting with tropical notes of yellow mango, ripe pineapple, and candied citrus, layered with spicy ginger, vanilla oak, and botrytis richness. Lusciously sweet yet vibrant, with high acidity balancing the opulence. 140 g/l residual sugar.

75% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon Blanc. Cask sample. Pale gold. Marmalade notes. Zesty and fruity with sweetness and adequate concentration. Botrytis evident but there’s a freshness and ease of access as well. (JL)

Flowers, orange, vanilla, honey-topped apricots, oranges, and toast aromas emerge in the bouquet. On the palate, the wine quickly focuses you on its energetic, racy, candied yellow citrus, with hints of roasted oranges that appear on the back end of the finish. Drink from 2027-2047. 92-94 pts

Candied orange zest, soft dried apricot, the first flowers of spring (snowdrops and daffodils): the bouquet, fresh and cheerful, reveals a lovely complexity. Rich and hedonistic, concentrated, very creamy, the palate unveils notes of apricot, lemon juice, and dried fruits.

What depth and plurality in the bouquet of Doisy Daëne. The tobacco notes combined with aromas of passion fruit, fresh mango, verbena, radish and mandarin zest (among others) announce a remarkable wine. This is perfectly assimilated by the palate which only confirms this direction. The wine is dense, smooth, even saline, lively and refreshing! An extraordinary Doisy-Daëne in its serene way of displaying grandeur, without raising its voice, without fanfare, simply by being itself. It will mark generations. Saline, refreshing, striking and persistent finish!

Grilled apricots and lime zest, rich without being heavy, luscious and so good, a clear sign that there are bright spots in the 2024 vintage - and many of them belong to the dry and sweet whites of the region. Great stuff from Fabrice and Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu. 15 hl/ha yield.

The nose is fresh and fruity, with bright citrus notes, along with a racy, mineral, deep character. It reveals notes of candied lime and candied kumquat, and, more subtly, crisp green peach, alongside hints of fresh green almond, touches of small yellow fruits, fine nuances of warm acacia, verbena, and a dash of fresh spices. The palate is well-crafted, fruity, fresh and mineral. It shows a lively framework, acidity, suppleness, fine definition, purity and a pleasing, harmonious character. On the palate, the wine expresses notes of fresh apricot, candied mandarin and, more lightly, candied quince, paired with hints of lychee and lilac, as well as fine touches of stewed nectarine and a subtle, almost honeyed, even vanilla-like note. Good length. A wine with acidity, a lovely racy edge and a finely vinous finish.

Pale colour. An intense, fruity bouquet with botrytis notes. The palate is as airy as can be, with a melting texture and a hint of lime on the finish. Long and very good. Blend: 75% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon Blanc. Alcohol: 12.8% - pH: 3.6. Residual sugar: 150 g/l. Yield: 16 hl/ha. Production: 26,000 bottles.
