Château Feytit-Clinet 2019

Evocative and expressive nose full of dark chocolate and clear truffle aromas with red cherry nuances. This has a nice svelteness, supple tannins, but there is also a serious aspect to this — a straightness and linearity right now. Definitely on the dark spectrum with clear liquorice, coffee, black cherries, figs, prunes and raisins as well as black pepper and some bitter dark chocolate too. Heady and powerful, oaky and tannic but lifted by excellent acidity.

Rich and layered red with black olive and walnut on the nose, as well as blackberry. Full-bodied and powerful with superb depth and richness. Walnut and chocolate, too. Opulent, yet fresh. Try after 2026.

Dark ruby, opaque core, violet tints, delicate bright rim. Ripe dark berry confit, delicate figs, discreet savouriness of noble wood. Powerful, savoury, sweet cherry fruit, ripe, supporting tannins, elegant and long-lasting, mineral on the finish, fine chocolate touch on the aftertaste, good development potential.

Jeremy Chasseuil continues to make a brilliant, ripe, incredibly sexy Pomerol that always seems to put a smile on my face. His 2019 Château Feytit-Clinet is inky-hued and has a blockbuster nose of ripe black fruits, damp earth, chocolate, and tobacco. This all carries to a full-bodied Pomerol with background oak, ripe, velvety tannins, a great mid-palate, and one heck of a finish. I wish there were more wines like this in the vintage. It offers pleasure today yet will benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and cruise for over two decades. Bravo!

Always a well-judged and balanced Pomerol from owner Jeremy Chasseuil. As it unrolls, it majors on poised but punchy loganberry and blackberry fruit, with slices of fennel, black pepper and cinnamon spice. Well-judged but still present oak notes. 70% new oak. A yield of 42 hl/ha.

The 2019 Feytit-Clinet is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, aged for 16 months in French oak, 70% of it new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it offers juicy plums, black cherry preserves, and blueberry compote with suggestions of Indian spices, Sichuan pepper, and licorice. Full-on full-bodied, the palate is concentrated with a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness to enliven the long finish. This is a fantastic powerhouse for Pomerol-loving hedonists!

[ En Primeur 2019 Notes: 93 ] Silky fullness on the attack, elegant creamy tannin, with lovely inherent freshness. A wine of great charm, both hedonistic and refined.

This is certainly one of the key assets of the Clinet sector in 2019: the wines benefit from an obvious freshness, which is welcome in the context of this sun-drenched vintage. The bouquet thus shows different facets through notes of anise and licorice wood. It also reveals aromas of blackberries and blueberries. On the palate, the wine stands out for its balance, for the beautiful symbiosis between the smooth attack and creamy, fine-grained tannins. They are perfectly integrated and give breadth without tipping into opulence. A gourmand, sapid wine with a persistent finish. A fine success.

Dark, intense, beautiful purple color. Moderately intense nose with ripe, fresh fruit. Caressing on entry, delicately velvety mid-palate, flavorful, the wine develops with good length and smooth, rounded tannins. Blend: 92% merlot, 8% cabernet franc. Alcohol: 14.8% – pH: 3.80. Yield: 42 hl/ha.

This is a wow wine. It only takes one sniff and sip to be seduced by its wealth of black plums, dark cherries, truffles, espresso, licorice, and chocolate. However, it is the texture on the palate, with its freshness, velvety tannins, and layers of mouth-coating black plums, chocolate, and cherry liqueur that steal the show. This could be the best value in Pomerol today. If Pomerol is your thing, you should own this wine. Drink from 2024-2050.

92–94. Barrel Sample. Spicy and full of dark fruits, this is setting out to be a richly balanced wine. Blackberry and plum skin flavors have a hint of chocolate, supported by ripe, textured tannins. There is good aging potential here.
