The estate

With a vineyard whose soils were recognized in local archives as early as 1461 for their quality in cultivating vines, Château Haut-Bailly benefits from a prestigious heritage. Elevated to the rank of Cru Classé des Graves in 1953, Château Haut-Bailly turned a new page in its history when it was acquired by Robert G. Wilmers in 1998. Passionate about Bordeaux and its wines, this great patron and lover of French culture, alongside his wife, worked to preserve the historical heritage of Château Haut-Bailly while bringing a modern, forward-looking vision to elevate the cru to the highest level until his passing in December 2017. The estate’s Managing Director, Véronique Sanders, together with Technical Director Gabriel Vialard, manages with talent and passion this emblematic Cru Classé located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation.

The vineyard

Situated atop a Graves rise, Château Haut-Bailly oversees a 30-hectare terroir. Planted on gravel, clay and sand soils, whose gentle slopes provide excellent drainage, the vines give birth to a great Pessac-Léognan wine.

In line with the very great Bordeaux years, 2010 follows the exceptional 2009 vintage with brio, revealing a Château Haut-Bailly of magnificent power, concentration and structure, destined for great longevity.

Celebrating the identity of its birthplace terroir, the 2011 vintage will charm with its freshness, its gentle expression and its tannic structure revealing Haut-Bailly’s chiselled profile.

The virtuoso 2012 evolves with grace, shining with freshness and vibrant fruit, while the tight tannic weave structures the cru with character.

Triumphing over the challenges of the year, the miraculous 2013 unveils its freshness and liveliness, evolving with finesse and harmony.

A vintage of intensity and energy, 2014 underscores the beauty of fruity aromas, while the palate stands out for its deliciously velvety texture, balanced by great freshness.

Finally, 2015 appears as a vintage of plenitude, bringing together the expression of the different grape varieties in the blend. A superb vintage for its power, roundness, structure and harmony.
