Château La Connivence 2019

From the team behind La Gaffeliere in St Emilion, this estate has streamlined its approach a little in recent years, still with plenty of Pomerol swagger but less dominated by oak than in its early days. A lovely choice in 2019 for an enticing, highly drinkable Pomerol with sweet black fruits and firm yet fresh tannin and acidity. Those tannins build across the palate, and by the finish you get a block of chocolate and liquorice, suggesting it will age well and deepen in expression.

[ Primeurs 2019 Scores: 94-95 ] This 2019 is a blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc, with the latter grape bringing an airy lift to the finish, rounding off the silky, juicy twists and turns on the palate. A wine that is both sensual and refined.

Dark, intense, and beautiful color. Very aromatic nose with ripe, subtle fruit. Succulent palate, particularly hedonistic, with a melting, fragrant body and a fine, silky richness. Lovely juicy finish that’s impossible to spit out. Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol: 14.5% - pH: 3.6. Tiny production of 2,400 bottles.
