Description
A Lively, Indulgent Burgundy Grand Cru
In the heart of the Corton-Charlemagne appellation in Burgundy, the Domaine Bonneau de Martray needs no introduction and enjoys an exceptional west-facing exposure on the hill of Corton. On this historic vineyard, dating back more than 12 centuries, the vines run from the foot to the top of the hill, where successive layers of clay and silt create a mosaic of terroirs. Producing just two Grand Crus, Bonneau du Martray is an essential Burgundy estate.
The 2011 vintage is a promising one. After a bright, sunny spring and an early start for the vines that held throughout the growing cycle, the damp summer made for a generous crop. At Domaine Bonneau du Martray, the Pinot Noir harvest took place under favourable conditions in the first week of September.
Aged for 12 months in oak barrels and then 6 months in vats, Corton Grand Cru 2011 is finally blended and bottled, then left to age until the vintage reaches its peak.
Its shimmering ruby colour reflects the elegance and subtlety of the noble Pinot Noir from the hill of Corton. On the nose, refined notes of spice and dried fruit blend harmoniously, paving the way for a crisp, indulgent palate. Corton Grand Cru 2011 reveals a noble texture with silky tannins, lifted by a touch of freshness and an exceptionally long finish.
With Corton Grand Cru 2011, Domaine Bonneau du Martray offers a wine to enjoy now and over the next several years.
