Founded in 1720 in Beaune by Edme Champy, Maison Champy stands out as the oldest wine house in Burgundy. With three centuries of expertise and 21 hectares of vineyards, it perpetuates a winemaking tradition in the heart of the Côte de Beaune.
Wines with Multiple Expressions
A true benchmark of the Pernand-Vergelesses appellation, Maison Champy has established itself as an essential player in the Côte de Beaune.
White Wines Revealing the Full Diversity of Their Terroirs
Maison Champy unveils a remarkable palette of white wines. The "Cuvée Edme", a tribute to the founder, is distinguished by its expression that is both vibrant and generous. The Pernand-Vergelesses 1er cru "En Caradeux" charms with its crystalline minerality and radiant freshness, while the Viré-Clessé village captivates with its assertive structure and pronounced minerality.
A Range of Burgundy Red Wines
The red wines reveal a plurality of expressions. Cuvée Edme displays a delicate freshness, combining suppleness and roundness. The Pernand-Vergelesses 1er cru "Ile des Vergelesses" falls into a more mineral register, expressing elegant freshness and beautiful mineral tension.
With its radiant fruity character, the Village "Clos de Bully", one of the oldest lieu-dits in Burgundy, offers a profile combining power and delicacy. This elegance continues with the Savigny-lès-Beaune Village, which seduces with its silky texture, before giving way to Volnay village and its refinement. Finally comes the majestic Corton Grand Cru "Le Rognet", born from a confidential 0.33-hectare parcel, which reveals a solid and opulent body with powerful and fleshy notes.
A Historic Burgundy Wine House
A Centuries-Old Epic Since 1720
Founded in 1720 in Beaune by cooper Edme Champy, Maison Champy is among the oldest wine houses in Burgundy. With three centuries of history, it distinguished itself on the international stage by participating brilliantly in all the Universal Exhibitions between 1889 and 1912. Since 2016, integrated into the AdVini group, it cultivates 21 hectares of vineyards stretching from Volnay to Corton-Charlemagne in the heart of the prestigious Côte de Beaune.
An Exceptional Terroir
Owner of 21 hectares of carefully selected vineyards on the Côte de Beaune, particularly in Pernand-Vergelesses, Maison Champy cultivates a large part of its vineyard using organic farming methods. This respectful approach aims to preserve and enhance the unique potential of its exceptional parcels, the jewel of which remains the Clos de Bully in Pernand-Vergelesses. One of the oldest lieu-dits in Burgundy's wine region, planted as early as 1158 by the monks of Maizières Abbey, this historic terroir contains hidden treasures, including a spring and a Roman well testifying to its thousand-year-old past.
A Philosophy of Excellence, from Vine to Cellar
Since its creation, Maison Champy has relied on the exceptional talents of its teams. Today, it is Dimitri Bazas, Technical Director and Oenologist, who has been orchestrating the work of the technical team with passion and expertise for nearly 20 years.
"You must listen to the truth of each terroir," states Dimitri Bazas. This commitment translates into precision viticulture where the environment takes center stage. All treatments applied in the estate's vineyards respect the principles of integrated pest management and organic farming.
The wines are aged in historic 15th-century cellars, true sanctuaries of maturation. The wines are crafted and aged in traditional Burgundian barrels of 228 liters, benefiting from long aging periods of up to 16 months.
Maison Champy thus remains the last house to vinify, age and bottle its precious cuvées in the heart of old Beaune, perpetuating a centuries-old tradition of authenticity and excellence.
