Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Mâcon-Fuissé 2022 Domaine Cordier Père et Fils

Tasting

Colour
This white wine from France reveals a crystalline clarity and a bright pale yellow hue, subtly adorned with delicate golden highlights.

Nose
The nose opens with charming floral notes of hawthorn, mock orange and honeysuckle. It then reveals fruity aromas of juicy pear and ripe lemon, all underscored by an elegant, chalky mineral touch.

Palate
The direct, forthright attack gives way to ample, supple fruit with a lovely roundness. A delicate tension perfectly balances the whole, leading to a lingering finish that is lively and particularly delicious.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, pan-seared scallops or delicate white fish. It also elegantly accompanies white meats such as poultry or pork tenderloin with melting apples, as well as vegetarian dishes like a zucchini risotto. As for cheese, a Burgundy goat cheese or a soft cheese will elevate the tasting experience.

Service and Storage

To fully enjoy this Mâcon-Fuissé 2022, it is recommended to serve it between 10 and 11°C as an aperitif, or between 11 and 12°C with a meal. This wine can be enjoyed now or cellared until around 2028.

Other Characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 14% vol.

The Authentic Expression of a Terroir from Burgundy by Domaine Cordier Père et Fils

The Estate

Founded in 1945 in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils is a historic figure of the Mâconnais vineyards. Initially concentrated on just a few hectares, the estate now spans 31.5 hectares across a mosaic of exceptional terroirs. Currently run by Christophe Cordier and Serge Germain, the family estate stands out for its deep commitment to quality and environmental respect, reflected in its organic and biodynamic certification. The estate is renowned worldwide for its cuvées, which reflect the unique identity of each plot.

The Vineyard

The vines used to produce the Mâcon-Fuissé thrive in the commune of Fuissé, in the southern part of the region. This terroir benefits from great geological diversity, combining marl-limestone soils to the west and pink microgranite to the east. The vineyard is cultivated with great agronomic rigor, including short pruning, canopy weaving to protect the grapes, and soil work partly carried out using horse-drawn traction to preserve its vitality.

The Vintage

The year 2022 stood out as a major success for the region's white wines. The climatic conditions allowed for grapes with ideal ripeness, offering a remarkable balance between lovely freshness and generous body.

Winemaking and Aging

The making of the Mâcon-Fuissé 2022 begins with entirely hand-picked harvesting. The whole clusters undergo a very gentle pneumatic pressing. The juices are then transferred by gravity to ferment solely through the action of indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place on its original lees in French oak barrels and large foudres, thus preserving all the wine's freshness. Bottling is carried out by gravity, without fining and with extremely light filtration.

Grape Variety

100% Chardonnay.
