Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for Silice 2024, Domaine des Ardoisières

Tasting

Colour
Wonderfully clear, the colour reveals a pale to medium yellow hue, illuminated by subtle golden highlights and a crystalline transparency.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet stands out for its precision, blending citrus notes (lemon zest, grapefruit) and stone fruit such as white peach with delicate hints of green apple and white flowers. Subtle herbaceous touches reminiscent of hay and dried herbs add further complexity.

Palate
The palate opens fresh and taut, carried by a lovely vivacity that gives the wine structure. Despite its lightness, the mid-palate offers a rich, enveloping texture, revealing concentrated flavours of orchard fruit and citrus, underscored by a highly characteristic saline minerality. The finish is crisp and persistent, lingering on elegant mineral and lemony notes.

Food and wine pairing

This white wine pairs beautifully with raw or lightly prepared seafood, such as scallop carpaccio or sautéed prawns with citrus. It also goes perfectly with fresh goat's cheese, light herb-roasted poultry, and dishes rich in green vegetables such as asparagus or peas.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate the Silice 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 8 and 12°C and to let it breathe or decant it one to two hours before tasting to release its full complexity. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to evolve favourably until around 2031.

The mineral purity of a wine from Savoie by Domaine des Ardoisières

The estate

Born in 1998 through the visionary drive of Michel Grisard, Domaine des Ardoisières embodies the qualitative renewal of the Savoie vineyards. This bold project enabled the restoration of abandoned mountain terraces. Joined in 2003 by Brice Omont, who has been the majority owner and manager since 2010, the estate spans 24 hectares. Cultivated according to the principles of biodynamics, this exceptional vineyard produces wines that are distinctive, pure and deeply marked by their alpine terroir, placing the estate among the essential references of contemporary French winemaking.

The vineyard

The estate's vines flourish on steep alpine slopes with gradients of up to 70%, making mechanisation impossible and requiring heroic manual labour. The plots dedicated to this cuvée, farmed organically, rest on silica-rich soils that give the wine its distinctive identity. This mountain terroir, subject to a harsh climate and significant temperature swings, produces grapes of exceptional quality under the IGP Vin des Allobroges.

Winemaking and ageing

The Silice 2024 is crafted according to a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the terroir to fully express itself. Following an entirely hand-harvested crop with rigorous grape selection, vinification takes place at cool temperatures to preserve the wine's aromatic clarity and natural fruit hue. Careful oxygen management throughout the process helps maintain the wine's freshness and precision right up until bottling.

Grape variety

100% Jacquère.
