The estate
Domaine du Château de Meursault has had its current configuration since 1973, the year it was acquired and restructured by André Boisseaux. Since December 2012, the estate has belonged to the Halley family, under the leadership of Olivier Halley. Located in Burgundy, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the domaine covers 67 hectares farmed organically, spread across Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard and the hill of Corton. It is particularly renowned for its monopole Chardonnay clos nestled within the château's grounds.
The vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from a Chardonnay plot planted in the heart of the Château de Meursault's grounds, entirely enclosed by a dry-stone wall. This monopole clos, with a total area of eight hectares, of which 7.5 hectares are currently in production, enjoys a full easterly exposure and rests on gravelly clay-limestone soils, which promote both drainage and a welcome freshness for Chardonnay. Since the 2022 vintage, the entire vineyard has been farmed organically, and part of the plot was replanted in 2024 as part of an agroforestry project combining vines and companion trees, in order to strengthen the resilience of the ecosystem in the face of global warming.
Winemaking and ageing
The Bourgogne Clos du Château 2025, currently ageing, continues the expertise applied to this emblematic cuvée of the domaine. The grapes are usually harvested at optimal ripeness, then settled before fermentation, which takes place partly in oak barrels. Ageing then continues on fine lees, in new oak barrels and in barrels of one to two wines, complemented by stainless steel tanks, with the aim of adding texture while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
