Domaine Faiveley : Corton Grand cru "Clos des Cortons Faiveley" Monopole 2019

This is plump and juicy, featuring black cherry, plum, tomato leaf and sweet spice flavors. There are firm tannins underneath and this is long, with echoes of oak spice on the aftertaste. Be patient. Best from 2025 through 2045. 800 cases made, 80 cases imported.

A truly amazing Corton, thanks to the laser beam of sour-cherry aroma that shoots right through this sleek and vibrant wine. Great concentration, but remains light on its feet. The mineral finish extends and extends as you struggle to take it all in. Still very young with enormous aging potential. Drink or hold.

Barrel sample. Bright (rather than deep) crimson. A little simple and sweet with lots of acid and tannin. Dry, light finish. Drying finish. Difficult to warm to. (JR)

2019 confirms the evolution of the estate’s style and the perception of this cru which, while not renouncing its Corton origin, shows a softer side in its youth, floral with delicate, subtle tannins.

Great textural lusciousness, with a chiselled, deep substance, very full-bodied and integrated with quality oak: Clos des Cortons opens up slowly yet shows a very defined profile, backed by a strong foundation of savoury tannins.
