Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Le Montrachet Grand cru 2022 Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils
Tasting
Colour
Displaying a pale to medium golden hue, this wine reveals emerald-green highlights in its youth.
Nose
The nose reveals a complex bouquet of citrus aromas (mandarin, lemon zest) and stone fruit such as white peach and pear. Floral notes of honeysuckle and a flinty mineral touch join the mix, along with subtle hints of butter, vanilla and toasted hazelnut.
Palate
On the palate, this white wine stands out for its breadth and creamy texture, underpinned by precise acidity. Flavours of apricot, lemon and honey unfold, heightened by a chalky mineral backbone. The finish is remarkably persistent, lingering on saline notes.
Food and wine pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with poultry in a creamy mushroom sauce, particularly morels. It is also a wonderful match for seafood and shellfish such as lobster or scallops, as well as aged cheeses like Comté.
Serving and cellaring
With remarkable ageing potential, this Le Montrachet Grand cru 2022 can be cellared and enjoyed until around 2047.
The elegance and mineral precision of a white wine from the Le Montrachet appellation
The estate
Founded in 1920 by Arsène Amiot, Domaine Guy Amiot et Fils is a historic name in Burgundy, France. Based in Chassagne-Montrachet, the estate tends around 10 hectares of vines. Today, the fourth generation, represented by brothers Thierry and Fabrice Amiot, runs the estate. They are now joined by Héloïse Amiot, who represents the next generation. A pioneer of estate bottling, the domaine stands out for an approach that combines respect for family traditions with precision viticulture.
The vineyard
The plot dedicated to Le Montrachet Grand cru covers a tiny area of just 0.091 hectares. Benefiting from an ideal south-facing exposure, these vines, around 90 years old, thrive on clay and limestone soils over a stony subsoil. The estate practises sustainable farming, including soil cultivation, disbudding and meticulous trellising to preserve the health of the vines.
The vintage
Following a previous year marked by devastating frosts, the 2022 growing season proved particularly generous. Despite hot, dry weather conditions, the vines drew on their reserves to deliver high-quality yields, achieving an optimal balance between fruit ripeness and freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of Le Montrachet Grand cru 2022 reflects a philosophy that blends tradition and modernity. The methods used aim to preserve the tension and mineral definition of the terroir, resulting in a silky texture supported by precise acidity.
