Domaine Henri Rebourseau : Clos de Vougeot Grand cru 2019

Henri Rebourseau's Clos de Vougeot was pleasant and typical of the cru, with firm, plummy fruit, a fairly firm tannic grip, and a slightly rustic edge. The aromas still showed the ripe black fruit with a smoky note that I observed from barrel, but it has not yet begun to take on some of the depth or richness that I pointed out in some of the other bottlings at the Singapore tasting.

The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has quite a high-toned bouquet with dark berry fruit, a touch of fresh prune and dark honey. The palate is plush and quite decadent. This is a voluminous Clos de Vougeot that just needs a little more grip and freshness on the finish. The 2019 is an example where I think there is a tangible step up with the Clos de Vougeot Vieilles Vignes.

This wine has evolved nicely; this beautiful juice with orange-tinged nuances is broad, velvety, and very well made.

A graceful, delineated red, boasting black cherry, plum, iron and earth flavors framed by vanilla and oak spices. Delivering a dense matrix of fine-grained tannins, this is also fresh and focused on the spiced aftertaste. Though complex and still youthful, this feels effortless. Best from 2026 through 2045. 90 cases imported.
