Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrières" 2024 from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils
Tasting Notes
Appearance
This wine reveals a brilliant, golden hue, reflecting superb luminosity.
Nose
The bouquet is sumptuous and deeply floral. It exudes aromas of eucalyptus, linden blossom and wild herbs, subtly rounded out by hints of honey and fresh almond. A pronounced minerality, reminiscent of gunflint, completes this complex aromatic profile.
Palate
On the palate, this cru stands out for its airy, ultra-precise profile. The texture is refined and elegant, supported by perfectly integrated acidity. The finish lingers on beautiful mineral notes.
Food and Wine Pairing
This great white wine pairs beautifully with noble fish such as roasted sole or monkfish medallions. It also enhances white fish served with light creamy sauces, as well as grilled shellfish like lobster or langoustine. For bolder pairings, delicate poultry in sauce or a lightly aged pressed-curd cheese make excellent companions.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate the Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrières" 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. With great potential, this vintage is built for long-term ageing and can be kept in the cellar to be enjoyed until around 2042.
An Airy, Precise Great White Wine from Meursault by Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils
The Estate
Located in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils draws on seven generations of family heritage. Although its winemaking history is long-standing, the true creation and structuring of the modern estate took shape around 1971 under the leadership of Michel Bouzereau. Today, his son, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau, runs this roughly 12-hectare vineyard. Recognised as a benchmark name, the estate stands out for its rigorous viticulture and pursuit of purity, producing white wines of remarkable precision.
The Vineyard
This cuvée comes from a highly qualitative 0.52-hectare plot located in the Genevrières-Dessous climat, within the Meursault appellation. East-facing and situated on a mid-slope, the vines were planted in 1987 and 1990. They thrive on a shallow clay-limestone terroir, particularly rich in stones, resting on a subsoil of Bathonian limestone and white marl. The estate practises careful soil management and environmentally respectful farming, encouraging grape concentration.
Winemaking and Ageing
Following an entirely hand-harvested crop that allows for rigorous sorting of the bunches, vinification takes place in barrels. The Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrières" 2024 is aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a measured 25% proportion of new wood. This extended contact with the fine lees enriches the wine's texture while preserving its natural tension and the purity of its aromas.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay.
