The elegance and tradition of a great Burgundy wine
The estate
Officially established in 1803 in Pommard, at the heart of the Côte d'Or, Domaine Parent embodies viticultural excellence in Burgundy. While the family has been cultivating vines since the 17th century, it is now Anne Parent and her sister Catherine Fages-Parent who run the estate, representing the twelfth generation. In 2024, Constance Fages-Parent joined the family venture to ensure its succession. Combining historical continuity with innovation, the estate stands out for its environmentally friendly practices, reflecting a deep commitment to preserving its exceptional terroirs.
The vineyard
The estate's vineyard spans ten hectares across the Côte de Beaune, including magnificent plots within the Pommard appellation. The vines thrive on a mosaic of soils composed of limestone clay, marl, and clay reddened by the presence of iron. Mindful of its environment, the estate has been certified organic since 2007 and applies biodynamic methods. The soils of the premiers crus and grands crus are, moreover, worked with horses to preserve their integrity.
The vintage
2023 was marked by contrasting weather. The growing cycle first went through a July characterised by coolness and rainfall. Subsequently, a late heatwave in August and early September allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness before the mid-September harvest.
Winemaking and aging
To craft this Pommard 2023, the hand-harvested grapes undergo a rigorous triple sorting. The winemaking process is particularly gentle, favouring limited punching down and the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts to enhance the purity of the fruit. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new wood, on fine lees for a period of 14 to 18 months.
