Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Tradition Blanc 2025 by Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils
Tasting
Appearance
The glass reveals a lovely pale yellow hue with golden highlights, sometimes tinged with subtle greenish glints in its early youth.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is remarkably delicate and wonderfully refreshing. It releases charming scents of white-fleshed fruit and flowers, gently lifted by notes of citrus zest.
Palate
On the palate, this cuvée unfolds a rich, round and beautifully complex texture, while a pleasant acidity keeps it perfectly balanced. Fruity flavours follow one another harmoniously, blending pear and peach with exotic notes of mango and lychee, alongside the vibrancy of lemon and grapefruit. It all culminates in a long, delicately saline finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This great white wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as fine fish in sauce, roast sea bass with citrus or a seafood risotto. It will also enhance white meats in a creamy mushroom sauce, as well as goat's or sheep's milk cheeses.
Serving and Cellaring
With its solid structure, this white wine from the Rhône Valley will develop gracefully in the cellar for around ten years.
The Elegance of a Great White Châteauneuf-du-Pape by Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils
The Estate
Located in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils was founded in the early 1960s by Raymond Usseglio. Today, his son, Stéphane Usseglio, has been at the helm of this family estate since 1999. The vineyard covers 55 hectares and stands out for its deep commitment to organic and biodynamic farming. Combining respect for tradition with virtuous practices, this Rhône Valley estate crafts authentic cuvées that reflect the full richness and diversity of the Rhône terroirs.
The Vineyard
The vines used for this cuvée, with an average age of 50 years, thrive on the emblematic terroirs of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The plots rest on a highly varied geological mosaic of sand, limestone, sandstone, clay and the famous rounded pebbles known as galets roulés. The entire vineyard is farmed with the utmost respect for living ecosystems, using practices that promote biodiversity and certified by Ecocert, Demeter and Biodyvin. The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously sorted.
The Vintage
The 2025 vintage in the Southern Rhône was shaped by weather conditions that encouraged full ripeness while preserving superb balance. Cooler nights and a few welcome spells of rain at the end of the summer brought great precision, depth and elegance to the berries ahead of the harvest.
Vinification and Ageing
To produce the Tradition Blanc 2025, the grapes are partially destemmed before undergoing traditional vinification in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged for six months on its fine lees in the same vats, with regular bâtonnage to give it greater texture and complexity. A light filtration is carried out before bottling.
Grape Varieties
This blend is composed of 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 30% Roussanne, 5% Bourboulenc and 5% Piquepoul.
