Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin : Chablis 1er cru "Montmains" 2022

The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains reveals aromas of green apple, mint, white flowers and hazelnut, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate with good depth and structure.

Although these are rich, deep soils, Droin says they retain a lot of seashell character. Lively and fresh on the palate, you can feel the cool terroir combined with warm, ripe fruit. Very classy and will age beautifully. Benoit Droin explains that it is the argile-bleu (blue clay) found here which adds extra volume.

Born on a marl substratum, it offers a chiselled texture from which a note of oyster shell emerges, with great fruit freshness.
