Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Les Obriers de la Pèira 2021
Tasting
Colour
This wine displays a deep purple hue with violet highlights, a sign of concentrated material and wonderful youthfulness.
Nose
The nose is fragrant and complex, blending ripe red and black fruits with notes of kirsch and exotic pepper. Touches of garrigue, thyme and rosemary layer over nuances of leather and warm spices, while a subtle hint of cocoa and dried herbs add depth to the whole.
Palate
The attack is mouth-watering, driven by a harmonious balance between power and fruit. The texture, impressive in its density, shifts between silk and velvet, while a pronounced freshness lifts a generous, delicately spiced body. The finish, long and aromatic, leaves a savoury, lingering sensation.
Food and Wine Pairings
Les Obriers de la Pèira 2021 is an ideal companion to red meats and slow-cooked dishes: braised beef, daube, rib steak or leg of lamb with garrigue herbs. It also pairs well with small game, charcuterie and cheese platters, as well as with more refined autumn cuisine, such as a black truffle preparation.
Serving and Cellaring
It is recommended to serve Les Obriers de la Pèira 2021 at a temperature between 16 and 18°C, and to consider decanting it to soften its structure in its early years. The wine can be enjoyed until around 2031.

The Estate
Founded in 2004 by Karine Ahton, a lawyer, and Robert Dougan, a composer, La Pèira settled in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac, in the Languedoc, in the Sainte-Brigitte area. The estate now covers approximately 15.3 hectares, cultivated with very low yields and entirely by hand. La Pèira has made a name for itself with its rigorous hierarchy of cuvées and its non-interventionist philosophy, which fully showcases the expression of the terroir.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from plots located in the Terrasses du Larzac, on soils composed of limestone, clay, gravel and silt. This structure, typical of the estate's alluvial terraces, promotes good drainage while retaining sufficient water reserves. The vineyard is managed using a sustainable approach that respects the environment.
Winemaking and Ageing
Les Obriers de la Pèira 2021 is produced from a hand-harvested crop, picked into small crates and rigorously sorted. Vinification is carried out by plot and by grape variety, with temperature-controlled fermentation between 26 and 28°C in open vats, and limited extraction. The Cinsault is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, while the Carignan is aged in vat.
Grape Varieties
This blend is based on Cinsault and Carignan.
