Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Saint-Romain Village 2023 by Louis Jadot

Tasting

Appearance
Displaying a light to pale yellow hue, this wine is enhanced by subtle green or golden reflections. It stands out for its beautiful clarity and radiant brilliance.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with delicate notes of white-fleshed fruits such as peach, pear and apple, accompanied by a touch of citrus. Subtle floral fragrances of acacia and hawthorn intertwine with woody nuances of vanilla and brioche, delivering a delicately toasted finish.

Palate
The palate offers a lively, crisp attack that reveals beautiful tension. The mid-palate unfolds a slightly creamy texture and a pleasant volume, supported by ripe fruit flavours and a mineral backbone. The whole extends towards a clean and persistent finish.

Food and wine pairings

This white wine pairs ideally with seafood, white fish in sauce or poultry in creamy preparations. It also wonderfully accompanies vegetarian dishes such as a vegetable risotto, as well as fresh goat cheeses or cooked pressed cheeses.

Serving and cellaring

To fully appreciate this Saint-Romain Village Louis Jadot 2023, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C, with a light decanting. This wine can be enjoyed now or kept in the cellar until at least 2038.

The elegance and freshness of a white wine from the Côte de Beaune

The estate

Founded in 1859 in the heart of the town of Beaune in France, the Louis Jadot House has established itself as a leading figure in Burgundy. Both a wine estate and a négociant house, it oversees a vast portfolio of prestigious vineyards. Since 1985, the property has belonged to the American group Kobrand Fine Wine & Spirits, while retaining local management provided by the Gagey family. Firmly committed to environmental responsibility, the house strives to express the purity of terroirs through cuvées that shine on the international stage.

The vineyard

Located in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune, the vineyard of the village appellation Saint-Romain flourishes to the west of Auxey-Duresses. The vines benefit from a privileged south and south-east exposure, sheltered by spectacular cliffs. This distinctive terroir, marked by steep reliefs and limestone-rich soils, allows the grapes to reach optimal maturity while preserving a lovely natural freshness.

The vintage

The 2023 vintage in Burgundy was marked by contrasting weather conditions, with a mild winter followed by an unstable spring. The warm and sunny summer allowed the berries to reach ideal maturity, yielding white wines of great aromatic purity and beautiful balance.

Winemaking and aging

The grapes for this Saint-Romain Village Louis Jadot 2023 are hand-harvested in small crates to preserve the integrity of the berries. After gentle pressing and careful settling, fermentation takes place in oak barrels from the estate's own cooperage, one third of which are new. The wine then benefits from ageing on fine lees for approximately fifteen months before bottling.
