The Elegance and Concentration of a White Wine from Meursault

The Estate

Officially founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Having remained independent and family-owned for twelve generations, it is now led by Florent Latour. The estate spans 48 hectares, a remarkable 27 of which are classified as Grand Cru. Strongly committed to environmental preservation with HVE 3 certification, the estate also stands out for owning its own cooperage. This unique expertise allows for perfect control over aging, thereby enhancing the authentic expression of each Burgundian terroir.

The Vineyard

The Climat "Perrières" is located in the southern part of the Meursault appellation. The vines flourish on south-southeast-facing slopes, at altitudes ranging from 230 to 360 meters. The shallow, very stony soils are composed of marl and Jurassic limestone. This demanding terroir naturally limits the vines' vigor, thereby encouraging berry concentration. The estate practices sustainable farming here, forgoing herbicides in favor of horse-drawn soil work and the use of natural compost.

The Vintage

The year 2024 was marked by particularly challenging weather conditions. The growing season began with late spring frosts, followed by hail episodes mid-season, and concluded with heavy rainfall in September. These climatic challenges drastically reduced yields. Nevertheless, this natural selection allowed for the harvest of remarkably concentrated berries, promising wines of great intensity.

Winemaking and Aging

The winemaking process for this Meursault 1er Cru "Perrières" 2024 begins with traditional fermentation directly in oak barrels, including a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for 8 to 10 months in medium-toasted French oak barrels, crafted by the estate's own cooperage. The blend of barrels, split equally between new oak and once-used oak, helps preserve the balance and purity of the fruit.
