Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Montagny 1er Cru "Creux de Beauchamps" 2025 by Olivier Leflaive
Tasting Notes
Colour
The colour is clear and brilliant, a delicate pale gold.
Nose
Pure and expressive, the nose releases aromas of fresh white fruits such as peach and pear, intertwined with notes of white flowers like acacia and honeysuckle. A subtle chalky minerality and a touch of green almond complete the bouquet.
Palate
With a delicate texture and dense structure, the palate is energetic and mouthwatering. Perfectly integrated acidity and crisp minerality stretch the wine towards a persistent, refreshing finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs wonderfully with creamy dishes such as creamed spinach with poached eggs or a goat cheese omelette. It also elevates seafood, such as a pike terrine, a crayfish gratin, oysters or delicate white fish, as well as grilled poultry.
Serving and Cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, we recommend serving this Montagny 1er cru "Creux de Beauchamps" 2025 at a temperature between 10 and 12°C. Offered en primeur, this vintage will be delivered around 2028.
The Precision and Freshness of a Montagny Premier Cru Crafted by Olivier Leflaive
The Estate
Founded in 1984 by Olivier Leflaive, Olivier Leflaive is a leading name in Burgundy, France. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, this négociant-éleveur house is today co-owned by Olivier and his brother Patrick Leflaive. Solène Panigai has headed the technical team since 2024. The estate draws on 26 hectares of owned vineyards spread across 82 climats, complemented by partnerships that allow it to vinify nearly 120 hectares. The house stands out for its uncompromising quality standards, its sustainable viticulture and its pioneering role in wine tourism.
The Vineyard
The "Creux de Beauchamps" climat lies to the south of the village of Montagny-lès-Buxy, in the southern part of the Côte Chalonnaise. The vines, around thirty years old on average, thrive at altitudes between 290 and 370 metres on east- and southeast-facing slopes. This singular terroir rests on marl-limestone soils, marked by a ledge of hard limestone overlooking marly slopes rich in clay and scree. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, with all grapes harvested entirely by hand.
Vinification and Ageing
After hand harvesting, the grapes destined for the Montagny 1er cru "Creux de Beauchamps" 2025 are partially crushed before a measured pressing. The must then undergoes static settling for 24 hours to clarify it while retaining the fine lees that are essential to aromatic complexity. Ageing lasts approximately twelve months. It takes place 80% in oak barrels, of which 15% are new, and 20% in stainless steel tanks, thus preserving the brightness of the fruit and the mineral tension.
