Pavillon Blanc 2022

Very expressive, with plenty of exotic fruit, peach, lemon zest; a fuller yet fresh palate, crisp and juicy, with a wonderful acid structure, breed and precision; saline finish with preserved lemons on the aftertaste. Can age.

Opulent and delicious, with plenty of green mango and pineapple aromas and flavors. Smoked cream and green apples. Showing a salty, briny character; it’s dense but not heavy, flavorful and very long. Pear-drop candy on the finish. Pure sauvignon blanc, as always. Rich yet lively and wonderful. Feels like a great Montrachet. One for the cellar. 8,000 bottles made. You just want to drink it. Drink or hold.

Lemons, honeysuckle, green apples, pears, vanilla, and white peaches are at the front of the aromatic profile. The palate is packed with sweet, ripe, juicy, yellow, and orange citrus, green apples, and a mélange of pears. Sweet, vibrant, and lively, the wine is ready for the start of its prime time drinking window. The wine is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.13.4% ABV. 3.18 pH. Yields were only 14 hectoliters per hectare, so not much of this wine was made. Drink from 2027-2038.

Pale yellow, green hints, silver reflections. Inviting aromas of tropical fruit, nuances of fresh mango and grapefruit, hints of new wood, a touch of vanilla and lemongrass. Juicy and elegant, notes of white peach, fine, well-integrated acidity, rich in finesse, and a lemony-mineral, salty finish. A very well-balanced food wine with definite ageing potential. The nose is fruity, straightforward, and offers a certain power and control. The wine benefits from decanting. A lovely grain, fine creaminess, and a flinty, gunstone-like backdrop. There are notes of crunchy peach, juicy/pulpy small white fruits, and, more subtly, crushed quenette, combined with a touch of pear and pear blossom. The palate is beautifully guided, supple, fresh, dynamic, crystalline, and gourmand, offering lively energy, a pleasant light oiliness, roundness, body, a tangy backbone, and beautiful fruit purity. Supple, precise, with lovely delicacy in its texture and its richness. An enveloping feel. On the palate, this wine shows notes of juicy/bright white peach, juicy/bright pear, and, more slightly, crushed quenette, paired with an almost pink-grapefruit touch and fine hints of mandarin. Very long finish. Acidity, precision, smoothness, and a lovely iodized/saline character on the finish. A very discreet, almost acacia-like hint in the background.

This is a dense wine with richness and a tropical fruit aroma. Comes from the earliest harvest ever for this estate's white grapes. There is a tantalizing grapefruit edge that shows the essence of the wine's Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2026.

Crisp green apples, elderflowers, quince, and yellow fruit on the nose - cool but not tropical. Pear and pineapple at first, then a sharp shot of bitter lime tightens the palate, driving a long, precise finish. Salty, with subtle toasted spice. More opulent than 2021, but still unmistakably Pavillon Blanc. A structured outer shell gives an impression of richness, yet it finishes calm and controlled. Bitter orange, lime, and peach linger at the end. Salinity and tension give this a sophisticated edge.

The 2022 Pavillon Blanc, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, is creamy, open-knit and quite seductive. A warm, dry year softened the edges, yielding an especially suave Blanc that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Pear, spice, chamomile, dried flowers and mint all meld together. The 2022 offers plenty of upfront appeal and tons of charm. Harvest began on August 18, one of the earliest starts here ever.

Harvested from the 18th of August, the 2022 Château Margaux Pavillon Blanc has a classic Margaux vibrancy and crisp style that belies the warmth and sunny nature of the vintage. Gorgeous citrus, crushed stone, mint, and sappy, floral nuances all define the aromatics, and it’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, bright acidity (pH 3.10), and a great finish. Give it a few years and enjoy over the following decade.

Grip and tension, this is not quite at the switchback-acidity levels of 2021, but there is a beautifully lilting salinity here, citrus, mango and pear, soft waves of white pepper, touch of mint leaf, steely finish, a great quality white in the vintage. If you'd like a dash of history with your wine note, it was Bruno Prats who planted the white vines in 1970 as he was manager of Château Margaux at the time. The nose sparkles and shines, like a gold chain set with a myriad of diamonds. Divinely buttery and smoky, it charms with its fresh gunflint backbone and its captivating aromas of linden blossom and peach clafoutis. The palate is round, almost spherical, lifted and airy. Verbena and linden bring length and vibrancy to the finish.

Pale color. An intense nose with ripe fruit aromas reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc. A subtle woody undertone. Delicate on the attack, with the same fine, creamy texture on the mid-palate as the red wine, it builds from mid-palate to the finish, ending long, flavorful, mellow, and silky.
