Description
The richness and freshness of a dry white wine from the terroir of Château Margaux
The estate
With a history dating back to the 12th century, Château Margaux brilliantly embodies the nobility and excellence of the great wines of Bordeaux. Crowned First Growth in the 1855 Classification, it was the only one to achieve the perfect score of twenty out of twenty. In 1977, the arrival of André Mentzelopoulos marked a founding turning point: he restored the Grand Vin to its full splendour, revived the Second Wine Pavillon Rouge and gave the estate fresh momentum. After his passing, his daughter Corinne took up the reins with conviction, preserving the aura of a château that had become a symbol of the neo-Palladian style and Bordeaux refinement. Vintage after vintage, its wines stand among the greatest references in the world.
The wine
Falling under the Bordeaux dry white appellation, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux carries on the tradition of a white wine made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc, produced on the estate since the 18th century. This cuvée comes from an 11-hectare terroir bringing together the oldest plots of the estate.
The vintage
2025 stands out for its contrasting weather conditions. A mild, balanced spring preceded a dry summer. While budburst and flowering were early and homogeneous, low rainfall in early summer led to a water deficit, followed by a scorching summer. Between late August and early September, nearly 60 mm of rain brought a welcome rebalancing of water levels combined with a drop in temperatures, ideal for refining berry maturity. Despite historically low yields of 16 hl/ha, the quality is exceptional. 45% of the harvest was retained for the making of this white wine.
Vinification and ageing
Rigorous selection during the harvest, followed by plot-by-plot vinification.
Grape variety
Pavillon Blanc 2025 is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
