The elegance and delicacy of a Meursault Premier Cru
The estate
Founded in 1879 in the heart of Beaune, the house of Remoissenet Père et Fils is a historic institution of Burgundy. Its cellars, nestled within 14th-century fortifications, offer optimal aging conditions. Since acquiring the estate in the early 2000s, current owners Eddy and Howard Milstein have brought a fresh dynamic of modernisation while preserving local traditions. Supported by director Pierre-Antoine Rovani and winemaker Claudie Jobard, the estate oversees an extensive vineyard and stands out for its constant pursuit of excellence.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the Climat "Les Bouchères", a distinctive terroir within the Meursault appellation, located in the extension of the famous Goutte d'Or plot. Facing east and southeast, the vines, around sixty years old, thrive on a steep slope that promotes excellent drainage. The soil consists of clay-limestone earth scattered with small stones, resting on a bedrock of limestone. This unique geographical configuration produces grapes of remarkable aromatic delicacy.
The vintage
The year 2023 unfolded against a particularly demanding global climate backdrop. The growing season was marked by episodes of intense heat, periods of drought, and significant disease pressure, requiring constant attention in the vineyards to bring the berries to optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes for this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Bouchères" 2023 are harvested by hand and late in the season to achieve perfect phenolic ripeness. After a rigorous sorting of the bunches on site, gentle pneumatic pressing and static settling are carried out. Fermentation and aging then take place in 350-litre French oak barrels. The proportion of new oak is carefully calibrated to enhance the expression of the terroir without ever masking it.
