The attack is lively and harmonious. The palate reveals delicate flavours of honeysuckle and candied lemons, carried by a fine mineral tension, before extending into a persistent and pleasant finish.
Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs ideally with dishes with Mediterranean accents such as grilled sea bass with fennel, vitello tonnato or gambas flambéed with anise. It also pairs well with seafood, light poultry, fresh goat's cheese or even roasted pineapple.
Serving and cellaring
With good ageing potential, Villa Madeleine Blanc 2024 can be enjoyed now or left to rest in the cellar to develop its full complexity.
The Elegance and Freshness of a White Wine from Bandol
The estate
Founded in 2002 by Gregory Hecht and François Bannier, who still lead the company today, Maison Hecht & Bannier is a renowned négociant-éleveur in the south-east of France. Based in Aix-en-Provence, the company stands out for its rigorous selection of the finest Mediterranean terroirs. A pioneer in its environmental commitment, it is the first wine entity in its region to obtain B Corp certification. It is with this same commitment to quality and respect for nature that the Villa Madeleine cuvée is crafted, a true showcase of the estate's expertise.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the Bandol appellation, more specifically from plots located in the communes of Evenos and Le Castellet. The vines thrive on restanques, traditional terraces facing east and south-east. This clay-limestone terroir benefits from optimal sunshine and the cooling influence of sea breezes, ensuring ideal ripening of the berries.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage in the south-east of France was marked by contrasting weather. A mild winter was followed by a rainy spring, which replenished the soil's water reserves while requiring particular attention to fungal disease pressure. The return of typically Mediterranean summer conditions then favoured optimal ripening, yielding berries of great finesse and wonderful freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
The Villa Madeleine Blanc 2024 grapes are harvested by hand, allowing for rigorous sorting in the vineyard and then in the cellar. The bunches are fully destemmed before undergoing a twenty-four-hour maceration, followed by pressing. The wine is then aged on fine lees in stainless steel and concrete tanks.
Grape varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Clairette (55%), Ugni Blanc (35%) and Rolle (10%).
