A rich, oaky Japanese sake from Toyama

Masuizumi, a pioneer of modern sake

Founded in 1893 in Iwase, in Toyama Prefecture, by Kamejiro Masuda, the Masuda Shuzo House produces the Japanese sake Masuizumi. A pioneer of modern, postwar sake, it stands out for its bold experiments in aging in wine and spirits barrels, notably in collaboration with Richard Geoffroy, former Cellar Master of Dom Pérignon, and the Champagne House Henri Giraud. Owned by fifth-generation Ryuichiro Masuda, Masuizumi cultivates heirloom rice varieties such as kodai-mai and offers a diverse range, from Daiginjô to Kijoshu. The House embodies a broad cultural approach, sharing the art of sake through gastronomy and local craftsmanship.

The Link 8888 2021 is the result of a bold collaboration between Masuizumi and Pernod Ricard Japan, in partnership with Chivas Regal. Its name refers to the 8,888 kilometers separating Chivas Regal’s Scottish distillery from the Masuizumi House in Japan. This modern sake stands out for its aging in American white oak barrels that previously held Chivas Regal whisky for more than 12 years. This exceptional maturation gives Link 8888 a unique, full-bodied, woody character, blending Japanese tradition with Scottish know-how. Presented in a 72 cl bottle with a presentation case, this sake embodies the spirit of innovation that defines Masuizumi.
