Created by the Mitchell family, Dublin wine merchants established in 1805, Spot Whiskey takes its name from the distinctive marking applied to casks according to their age. As early as 1887, the Mitchells shipped their empty wine, sherry, and port casks to Jameson’s Bow Street distillery, where they were filled and aged. After the 1966 merger that formed Irish Distillers Ltd, production was concentrated at the Midleton Distillery in Cork, Ireland.
