A Japanese single grain with velvety softness and great aromatic complexity
Suntory Whisky, a pioneer of Japanese whisky since 1899
Founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii in Osaka, Suntory established itself as the pioneer of Japanese whisky. In 1923, Torii founded Yamazaki, Japan’s first malt whisky distillery near Kyoto, followed by Hakushu in 1973 in the Southern Alps and Chita in 1972. Owned by the Suntory Group, which acquired Beam in 2014, the House perpetuates a philosophy of Japanese craftsmanship rooted in harmony with nature and mastery of blending. Its pure waters and blending expertise set its creations apart, from the historic Kakubin to the Yamazaki and Hakushu single malts, and the prestigious Hibiki blend. Suntory Whisky has embodied the excellence of Japanese whisky for a century.
The Chita Single Grain, Suntory’s first single grain
The Chita Single Grain is the first single grain produced by Suntory. Nicknamed “the serenity of Japanese whisky,” it comes from the Chita distillery, founded in 1972 on the peninsula of the same name near Kyoto and dedicated exclusively to grain whisky distillation.
Building on 40 years of excellence in the distillation of Japanese grain whiskies, the master blenders at House of Suntory created this Japanese whisky from a subtle blend of three types of distillate. These distillates were aged in bourbon, sherry and wine casks, offering remarkable complexity. Aging in Spanish oak, American white oak and wine casks adds additional aromatic layers, resulting in a softer, smoother grain whisky. Honey and mint aromas create a sweet, velvety taste, while spicy oak provides a crisp, clean finish.
