Tasting
Appearance
Pale gold hue.
Nose
Fresh and herbaceous, the nose reveals aromas of basil, green apple and honey. Floral notes accompany citrus fruits, somewhere between lemon and grapefruit.
Palate
The light, silky texture unveils flavors of grapefruit, green grape, peppermint and thyme. Notes of baked apples bring a slight bitterness. Medium-long, the slightly sweet, spicy finish unfolds on orange and pepper, with a hint of vanilla oak, white pepper and ginger.
Food pairings and tasting occasions
Suntory Toki pairs perfectly with sushi, chicken dishes or mild cheeses. It is best enjoyed on informal, relaxed occasions.
Mixology
The Toki Highball is the signature cocktail for this whisky. A well-chilled highball highlights the whisky’s flavor. First, be sure to thoroughly chill the glass, the whisky and the soda. Fill the glass with ice, gently pour in Toki, then add 3 measures of cold sparkling water, pouring slowly down the side of the glass to preserve the ice and the bubbles. To enhance the aroma, add lemon zest, making the flavor even more refreshing.
Other characteristics
Unpeated whisky with a refreshing citrus character. Alcohol by volume: 43%.
An innovative, harmonious Japanese whisky by Suntory
Suntory Whisky: a pioneer of Japanese whisky since 1923
Founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii in Osaka, Suntory has established itself as a pioneer of Japanese whisky since the creation in 1923 of Yamazaki, Japan’s first malt distillery. Suntory Whisky now operates three iconic distilleries – Yamazaki near Kyoto, Hakushu in the Southern Alps and Chita – where production is crafted in harmony with Japanese nature. Still run by the Torii family, the group expanded internationally with the acquisition of Beam in 2014. Its philosophy is rooted in adapting to the Japanese palate and an exceptional mastery of blending, illustrated by its Hibiki and Yamazaki ranges, making Suntory one of the world’s leading spirits players.
TokiNM: the art of Japanese blending, reinvented
Toki means “time” in Japanese, evoking the harmony between ancient and modern Japan, between tradition and innovation. This blended Japanese whisky is the work of Shinji Fukuyo, Suntory’s 5th-generation Master Blender.
Toki stands out for its innovative approach to blending. Composed from Suntory’s three iconic distilleries – Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita – this blend elevates Chita grain whisky to the same level as Hakushu single malt, rather than using it merely as a base. Yamazaki malt, meanwhile, brings depth and complexity to the whole.
The bottle features a minimalist, off-center rectangular label, adorned with the timeless Kanji logo of Suntory Whisky created by Tansetsu Ogino. The sophisticated yet playful aesthetic perfectly reflects the spirit within.
