    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Chambolle-Musigny Village "Les Fouchères" 2022 Thibault Liger-Belair

    Tasting

    Colour
The colour reveals a brilliant ruby hue, enhanced by luminous glints.

    Nose
The bouquet opens with floral aromas of violet, intimately intertwined with notes of red and black cherries as well as spices. On aeration, delicate touches of liquorice emerge with precision.

    Palate
Displaying great elegance, the palate offers a supple texture and medium body. The attack reveals delicious notes of black cherry and blackcurrant, supported by lovely acidity and silky tannins. The finish, initially somewhat taut, softens over time while retaining a remarkable freshness.

    Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs beautifully with herb-roasted poultry, coq au vin or feathered game in sauce. It also enhances roast veal, lamb chops, as well as mushroom-based dishes such as risotto or truffled preparations. When it comes to cheese, opt for soft or semi-firm varieties such as Brillat-Savarin, Brie de Meaux, Chaource or a well-aged Comté.

    Service and storage

To fully appreciate the Chambolle-Musigny Village "Les Fouchères" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of between 14 and 16°C, after decanting for 15 to 20 minutes. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop in the cellar and can be drunk until around 2032.

The elegance and freshness of a red wine from Chambolle-Musigny

    The estate

Heir to a long family lineage involved in the wine trade since 1720, Thibault Liger-Belair represents the ninth generation. In 2001, he founded his own eponymous estate in Burgundy, thereby taking back control of the family's historic vines. Now at the helm of the estate, he instils a philosophy that respects living organisms. A staunch advocate of viticulture attuned to nature, he applies organic and biodynamic methods to allow each terroir to express itself fully, producing wines of great purity and profound authenticity.

    The vineyard

The cuvée comes from the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, and more specifically from a blend of five distinct terroirs: Les Mal Carrées, Les Maladières, Derrière le Four, Les Fremières and Les Gamaires. The vines, planted between 1952 and 1963, flourish on soils composed of limestone rock, pebbles, gravel and scree. The north-east exposure of the plots, combined with the influence of the valley, helps preserve a lovely freshness in the face of summer heat.

    The vintage

2022 was marked by a particularly hot and dry summer. However, timely rainfall at the end of June and in mid-August helped the vines avoid water stress. These strategic rains revived ripening and preserved the natural acidity of the berries, resulting in an early harvest between late August and early September, yielding a healthy and balanced crop.

    Winemaking and aging

The grapes destined for the Chambolle-Musigny Village "Les Fouchères" 2022 are hand-harvested, carefully sorted and generally destemmed. Vinification favours gentle infusion over extraction, with minimal pumping-over and punching-down. Aging takes place over a period of 14 to 18 months in oak barrels made from wood that has been seasoned for three years, with a maximum of 50% new barrels. The wine is bottled without fining, filtration or any prior racking.
