    Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of Umani Ronchi's Vecchie Vigne Historical 2020

    Tasting notes

    Appearance
Displaying a lovely straw-yellow hue, this wine reveals subtle green and golden reflections, with a beautiful brilliance.

    Nose
The bouquet unveils great aromatic complexity, blending scents of white flowers, fresh citrus and apricot. Notes of almond, beeswax and subtle minty touches further enrich the whole.

    Palate
Dense and flavourful, the palate is enveloping and lively. It stands out for its beautiful energy and pronounced salinity, stretching towards a long, intense and wonderfully contrasted finish.

    Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with roasted fish or seafood. It will also elegantly accompany roasted white meats, stuffed pasta or creative cuisine dishes.

    Serving and cellaring
It is recommended to serve the Vecchie Vigne Historical 2020 in a medium-sized glass, at an ideal temperature between 10 and 11°C. Built to last, this great white reveals excellent cellaring potential.

The finesse and expression of a white wine from the Marche

    The estate
Founded in 1957, the Umani Ronchi estate is a true winemaking benchmark located in the Marche, in Osimo. Today led by Michele Bernetti, representing the third generation of the owning Bianchi-Bernetti family, this House operates a vineyard of over 200 hectares stretching as far as Abruzzo. Strongly committed to organic viticulture, the estate has established itself as an essential name, renowned for its mastery of local grape varieties. Its excellence was moreover crowned by the title of "Winery of the Year 2024" awarded by the Gambero Rosso guide.

    The vineyard
The grapes come from a small, isolated plot located on the hills of Montecarotto, in the heart of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore appellation. This Italian terroir, perched at around 310 metres above sea level and with an eastern exposure, rests on deep, silty and cool soils. The vines are over 50 years old.

    Winemaking and aging
After a light pressing, the free-run must is quickly cooled and then statically decanted. The fermentation of the Vecchie Vigne Historical 2020 takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 to 18°C for 15 to 20 days, without malolactic fermentation. The aging is particularly long: the wine first rests for 18 months in concrete tanks on its lees, before being transferred by natural sedimentation into small stainless steel containers for an additional maturation of approximately 36 months. It finally waits at least 6 months in bottle before being released.

    Grape variety
    100% Verdicchio.
